Psychotherapy & Counseling

About Anya

I am a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner with a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, women’s studies, and poetics from Sarah Lawrence College. I have been in private practice as a psychotherapist since 2003.

I have a background as a Massage Practitioner and began doing integrative (body-mind) work with clients in this practice in 1997.  I have worked with clients in a variety of mental health and social service settings including many years as a counselor helping adolescents, couples, families, and adults sort through the many issues around sexuality, family planning, grief and loss, and major life transitions.

I have advanced training in psychodynamic therapy and Hakomi body-oriented therapy.  I place great importance on continuing education and participate in ongoing professional consultation and training programs.

I love this work, and feel honored to be both witness and guide as people reconnect with their vitality, wisdom and creativity.  I am also a poet, a dancer and a lover of wild and tended gardens.
